Pakistan's Motor Bike Industry

Pakistan still has a long way to go in the motorcycle sector. Pakistan has recently been considered by numerous multinational firms looking for new locations to expand. Despite the fact that it is still a developing country with limited infrastructure, an increasing number of businesses are willing to take a chance and invest in their future here. In the last few decades, technology has advanced by rapidly increasing. The global vehicle business is very different, and it has always pushed to exceed its own standards in terms of better and more reliable goods.

However, when it comes to Pakistan's automotive industry in general, and the motorbike industry in particular, the situation is rather different and also seems to be like in a dilemma. Honda is a daily ridden motorcycle and leading bike manufacturers in Pakistan built by Honda of Japan. It has been manufactured in Pakistan since 1992.

The Honda 125 was first produced in Japan, but in 1985. Honda 125 has a single-cylinder, four-stroke, 124 cc engine with overhead valves. Atlas Honda Ltd continues to produce the Honda CG125. Except for a few cosmetic changes, the Pakistani version of the CG125 has remained virtually unchanged since its introduction in the 1980s, and people continue to buy it because the CG engine was developed specifically to address the issue of harsh use of this small but powerful engine.

As Honda realised that riders in developing countries performed little or no maintenance. The CG125 has overhead valves with push-rods, a washable foam air filter, and a fully enclosed chain to make it more reliable with minimum maintenance. The exterior decorations, as well as the seat and indicator clusters arrangement, have been overhauled to offer this long-lasting model a new look.

Honda has ruled and still ruling in Pakistan’s Motorbike Industry but now advancements and good things are coming. As world is focusing more on eco and environment friendly technologies the main producer and distributor in Pakistan is Atlas Honda Ltd, a joint venture between Honda Motor Company and Atlas Group Pakistan focuses on Euro 2 technology, which still results in significant CO2 emissions and dirty air, rather than the European Union's normal requirements, which range from Euro 3 through Euro 4 and Euro 6.

Another joint venture with a reputable Japanese company, Pak Suzuki Motor Company, is the country's largest vehicle producer and one of the leading motorbike manufacturers. The business continues to produce 125-150 cc motorcycles that are ideal for city streets. It has, however, recently begun to develop and distribute several lower-emission vehicles.

This problem can be solved if the government adopts an auto policy that encourages motorcycle producers to develop in-house products with improved engine technology and suitable features.   Technology and innovation are in high demand, and the Pakistani motorcycle industry has a lot of room to grow in a short period of time by focusing on affordable yet advanced bikes.

Big Fishes of Automobile Industry "Pakistan".

Without a doubt, three huge names, Suzuki, Toyota, and Honda, dominate Pakistan's vehicle industry, and they have monopolised the market. This car mafia is dominating us by imposing unjustified costs on such crappy vehicles. In addition, old versions of automobiles that aren't even roadworthy are being offered in Pakistan at unjustified high prices.

On the other hand, people who criticise these mafias end up buying these motor vehicles because they know prices will and have increased like past and they buy for investment point of view because Pakistan is the only country where vehicles prices will increase no matter how old the car is also there is no check and balance of old and wrecked up cars and there is no surety whether vehicles should be on the road or not.

Pakistani Automobile industry always make fool out of people and also cannot justify their prices, instead you can buy a fully optional and comfortable car in almost half of the prices what these 3 monopolistic companies are offering. Also these companies don’t want Government to allow import of these vehicles because people prefer JDM model cars upon locally assembled cars.

To fill out these gaps Proton, MG, and Volkswagen are among the automakers that have yet to begin production and could have a major impact on the local vehicle industry. Meanwhile, KIA, Hyundai, Changan, and Prince DFSK have already made waves in the market due to the fact that they have manufactured and delivered cars among which are Changan Alsvin, Kia Sportage, DFSK Glory, Hyundai Alantra, and Sunata are making their names in Pakistan.

Pakistan is a paradise on earth for local assemblers because the government imposes no limitations or causes any issues. Prices can be raised at any time, consumers are required to pay in full up front, deliveries are made in 4 to 6 months, and local assemblers can take advantage of unlimited black market and duty exemptions.

To overcome this monopoly more new competitors in the automobile sector should be encouraged to enter the market, and used car imports should be opened on a commercial scale to put this business under regulation as well. This will provide a level playing field for all stakeholders, including the Pakistani customer, who will be able to purchase a vehicle of his choice and affordability, which is currently unavailable to him.

In addition, the Pakistani government and the Supreme Court should establish an accountability sector for automobile industries in order to restrict the rising rates of these vehicles, which are increasing every year despite no big upgrades or additions compared to previous models of vehicles.

BOSS of Pakistan's Automobile Industry (1988-2019)

Suzuki

A five door hatchback Car with a 796 cc Engine capacity. Whether it is storming outside or you have to go in small narrow streets of Pakistan also not to forget about dangerous roads of north of Pakistan, Nothing comes in the way of this mean and sad looking Car.

Suzuki Mehran was first introduced to the Pakistani market in 1989, with a selling price of PKR.90,000 and was sold for about PKR 860000.in 2019. Boss has ruled in Pakistani market for about 32 years Despite the lack of basic safety features like airbags, ABS, rear window defogger, side air conditioner vents, seat belt reminder, and even rear seat belts.

Seat belts for the front row were initially placed in the mid-2000s. Aside from the suspension system, which was built on a low-cost, the car had stayed virtually unchanged throughout its 32-year production run, with no substantial interior or exterior changes.

In 2013, Pak Suzuki released a Euro-II Mehran, representing the only significant update in Mehran's 30-year history. The carburetor engine was replaced with an Electronic Fuel Injection System in this facelift variant of Suzuki Mehran Pakistan. Other minor changes included a new front radiator grille, crystal lights, and a few body modifications.

Suzuki Mehran experienced strong sales throughout its existence. According to data, Suzuki Mehran sold 35,526 units in 2007-08, compared to only 13,421 in 2008-09. The release of the Euro-II model in 2013 helped to stabilise Suzuki Mehran Pakistan's sales.

The company has sold around 29,000 units per year since then. In April 2019 Suzuki announced that the famous hatchback would be phased out of production in replace of 8th generation Alto in Pakistan. However, it did sell the units that had already been built for the next year until June 2020. People are still looking for used Suzuki Mehran prices in Pakistan, and used Mehran car prices in Pakistan are still inexpensive.

The car was first sold for Rs. 90,000 32 years ago, and the last sale price for the VX model was Rs. 825,000 in February of 2019. That's a huge 817 percent increase in price.

Mehran remained and ruled like a boss and a highly sought-after car for the most of its manufacturing years, despite the moderate but steady increase in price. Now we have to wait and see can Alto be the next Boss of Pakistani Automobile Industry or Not.
